TransCaspian 2012: the foundation for future co-operation
The 11th International Transport, Transit and Logistics Exhibition, TransCaspian 2012, organized by Iteca Caspian LLC and its partner, ITE Group plc, opened today at Baku Expo Centre. Supported by the Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan Republic and TRACECA, the exhibition has contributed to the efficient use of transport and the transit potential of the country, as well as promoted effective co-operation between sector professionals in the Caspian region for more than 10 years. Azerfon LLC, Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), Greenwich Travel Club, Hilton Baku and Caucasus Point Hotel are among the partners of the exhibition.
As noted by Mr Ziya Mamedov, Minister for Transport of Azerbaijan Republic, at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, “…such trade shows offer a fine opportunity to familiarize oneself with the latest achievements of the industry, including its modern technology and innovative equipment. The exhibition platform is an ideal place to meet with specialists, to establish close business relations and to create the foundations for future co-operation. The stands of companies and organizations from the various countries present at the exhibition display the inter-related spheres of transport, transit, logistics, road construction and public transport. TransCaspian 2012 and Road and Traffic 2012 have again proved that the economic development in Azerbaijan attracts ever more global companies interested in the development of co-operation with our country. On behalf of the government and the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, I would like to welcome all participants on the opening of this exhibition and wish them a productive time. I would also like to thank the sponsors of this exhibition for their successful work."
Seventy companies from 15 countries are participating in TransCaspian 2012 (e.g. Azerbaijan, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, the UAE, Poland, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, France and the Czech Republic). Latvia's national stand is presenting its products and services at the exhibition for the second time. Approximately 40% of the companies are participating in such a major international event for the first time (e.g. those companies from Croatia). All these factors have contributed to a 25% increase in the exhibition area as compared to last year.
Thus, the exhibition presents the latest achievements in the transport industry, and the best technology and equipment produced by domestic and international companies. Sectors such as Railway transportation and Oil transportation are widely represented at this year’s event. Transport by road and Maritime transport are well represented by companies from Germany, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Russia.
The distinguishing feature of TransCaspian 2012 is the active participation of the international ports in the Black, Caspian and Baltic Seas (the Port of Poti, Batumi Port, the port of Liepaja, Free port of Ventspils and the Trade Port of Baku). Alongside commercial companies, several state transport agencies will also be taking part in the exhibition, including the Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan Republic, Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, the Azerbaijan State Caspian Sea Shipping Company, and the State Road Transport Service of Azerbaijan Republic. Each of these exhibitors will be presenting current transport projects taking place within the region.
This year TransCaspian is a focal point for the international community, receiving VIP guests of transportation agencies from Croatia, Georgia, Latvia and Azerbaijan. The exhibition is a first-class international platform for the exchange of experience with sector managers and professionals from ports, airports, rail companies, road and rail transport enterprises, other major transportation companies and manufacturers of equipment for the transport industry. TransCaspian once again confirms its importance as a meeting place for the whole industry and as a catalyst for further mutual contact and co-operation.
